Skills
Skills (Settings > Entities > Skills) is a short list of trade skills, each with a colour. Project managers pick from it when they rate a tradesperson’s work on the iPad, and the skills build up a profile on the tradesperson’s record that the office can search. Operations maintain the list.

What you can do
Section titled “What you can do”Create a skill
Section titled “Create a skill”- Click Create new.
- Enter the Skill Name and pick a Skill Colour.
- Click Create Skill.
Edit or delete a skill
Section titled “Edit or delete a skill”Click Edit to change the name or colour in a popup. Delete removes the skill from the list; it is soft-deleted, so historical ratings that referenced it are kept.
How it works behind the scenes
Section titled “How it works behind the scenes”- Rating at final inspection. When a project manager completes a final inspection on the iPad they rate each tradesperson on the job out of five stars, add comments and tick the skills that stood out. The rating, comments and skills are saved against the tradesperson along with the report and the PM who gave it (ROCH-1859). See iPad App.
- Tradesperson profile. Skills tagged in ratings, and skills added directly to a tradesperson, show on their record in Tradespersons alongside their average rating, and the list can be searched by skill. Ratings are averaged over a rolling 12 months rather than all time (ROCH-642).
- Apps. Skills recorded against a tradesperson can also be read and updated through the companion apps, so a profile can be maintained without opening the web app.
Tips and gotchas
Section titled “Tips and gotchas”- Keep the list short and specific so PMs can tick skills quickly on site.
- Renaming a skill renames it everywhere it has been tagged.
- The intent recorded in Jira is that a five-star rating emails the tradesperson; check the current email behaviour in Tradespersons rather than assuming it from this page.
