iPad App Download

The iPad App Download page (menu Settings > Access > iPad App Download) is a single button that opens the download link for the Rochele iPad app used by estimators and project managers. It exists so the office does not have to email the link around whenever a new iPad is set up.

What you can do

Install the app on a new iPad

1. Sign in to the web app on the iPad itself (Safari) with the estimator’s or project manager’s account.
2. Open Settings > Access > iPad App Download and tap iPad App Download.
3. Install the app from the page that opens. The production app is published on the App Store as Rochele Painting, so this is normally the App Store listing; searching the App Store for “Rochele Painting” gets you to the same place.
4. Open the app and sign in with the same email and password used for the web app.

How it works behind the scenes

The button simply points to a download address stored in the system configuration. If the address ever needs to change (for example a new App Store listing), the developers update it; nothing needs changing in the office. If the button does nothing or opens an error page, the address is out of date and the developers need to update it.

Tips and gotchas

• Only people who can see the Settings menu (management, operations and accounts by default) can reach this page. If an estimator needs the link, open the page on their iPad for them or send them the link the button opens.
• The user’s roles matter to the app. An estimator without the estimator role, or a project manager without the Project Manager role, will sign in but see the wrong screens. Check their record in User Management.
• Log out of the web app on shared iPads after installing.
